I’ve compiled little ways for you to throw boredom out the window during office hours.

I’ve compiled little ways for you to throw boredom out the window during office hours:

Play office tag. We’re going to bend the rules a little. Instead of actually getting up from your comfy cubicles and running around like crazy you’re going to have to stay in your seats. What the “IT” person has to do is to find a way to get another colleagues attention without:

a. Calling that colleague’s name out loud
b. Physically touching them
c. Throwing any item at the colleague

You will know you are successful if the targeted colleague physically makes any sound or movement that shows his attention has been grabbed. He is now the next “IT” player. And so on and so forth.

Switch around the contents of your office drawers. This is best done if there are two of you. Wait for lunch break or stay until everyone has gone home, pretending to be absorbed with some extra credit work. Express your shock and surprise with everyone else once drawers have been opened.

Introduce a new office pet. Some popular choices are reptiles (any kind), furry spiders (non-poisonous), rodents (small to medium-size only) and fish.

Hide all the office staplers. Volunteer to run to the nearest office supply store when the boss notices. Spend the rest of the day sipping coffee at your favourite joint. Tell a really amazing story about how the Office Supply store got caught in a really intense drama between a long lost father and a son near the paper clip section (insert disclaimer notice here).

Compose a jingle for your company. Write down earnest lyrics and form a band with your other musically capable colleagues. Practice every night and break into a live impromptu set the next time the CEO visits. Propose this to be the next step in innovative marketing.

Stand near the photocopy machine and tell everybody who needs to use the machine that it’s broken. Tell them you know how to fix it but it will require 50 cents per hour.

Scream for about 5 seconds in complete horror. When asked about it, tell your boss that you read a blog written by the rival company that stated a complete fabrication about his company. Tell your boss you have the solution for this and will go on an intensive online marketing counter-strategy. Say you need a whole month off while you plan out your next step.

Buy sandwiches for everybody. Hug the colleague to your left. Then break out into a cheerful little giggle.

I hope that puts a smile on your face. If all else fails, go online and find amazing deals on promotional USBs, which you can give out as corporate giveaway for your next party

Here we have a simple guide to introduce some basic print terms that you might encounter. It may be you have good intentions, but the technical jargon just makes you want to give up. A little knowledge is all you may need to have a healthier working relationship with your printed products. So are you ready for your printing terminology 101? Great! Here is our short list to get you started.

Artwork — Simply refers to the electronic image that you want the printer to reproduce.

Bleed — We don’t want this happening on our printed materials. Bleed means the ink goes all the way to the edge of the paper and therefore bleeds out, so when its trimmed there is no white edge.

Collating — After you are happy with your print-outs, the next step is putting the total number of print-outs in the correct order. Quite important especially in the case of a high-suspense novel!

Composites — Each image on a print out is made up of many colours (cyan, magenta, yellow, black, spot colours, varnishes etc…). When all these colours are put on top of one another, the resulting colour is called the composite.

Die — You know how not all print outs are done in the same boring rectangular manner? Sometimes they are shaped like a heart or a circle or an animal. Clients can get really creative in here and request an variety of shapes. A die is the mold pertaining to the exact form the client wants the finished product to be. It can be made from either wood or metal.

Die Cutting — Now that you know what a die is, die cutting is the process of creating those unique shapes on paper.

Digital Proof — This comes from a digital press. It simply is the representation of what the client will get from the printer. It’s sort of a way for the client to see what the end product will look like and breathe a little easy. It’s a way to reassure them that you know what you’re doing and the end result will be fantastic.

There you have it, here are just a few of the basic printing terms that you may encounter during your journey. Good luck and happy printing!

Are you looking for a new way to reach your target market? Do you want to grow your business by a significant percentage this year? We have some great ideas that will help spread your name to a multitude of new audiences. It only takes some creativity and being a little bit savvy. Read on!

Go digital
Make use of the ever booming technology age and start reaching out to your audience online. Did you know that the average working person spends at least 20% of their time in front of the computer? Make use of that opportunity! Various platforms you may use are: Twitter, Multiply, Tumblr, YouTube and the ever-popular Facebook.

Find out how you can create blogs about the product you are selling or the service that you are offering. The more times your keyword appears in a blog, the bigger chances for it to appear on top of your search results. You may hire assistants for this job.

Don’t underestimate the power of e-mails. A short and timely e-mail about your new product or promo is a good idea to keep your database updated. You don’t want your target market to miss out a chance on trying out your new item. Keeping them in the loop shows that you care for them. On this note, try sending seasonal messages for Christmas or Valentines, because it shows your company has a heart and soul.

Throw interesting and creative parties
You don’t need a special occasion. An event is always a good way to keep your name out there. It creates a fun and festive atmosphere for building up your networks. It is also a good excuse to get your company’s name out there. Do you have new products? You can give them out as freebies. You wouldn’t want anybody leaving without a distinct and special memory of you. It’s also always a good idea to meet your target market face to face. Socializing shouldn’t just end online. Talking with them and bonding time is still the oldest and most effective marketing secret.

Give gifts or tokens every once in awhile
Nothing says “You are Special” more than a gift. By taking time out to reach out to your clients, you are telling them that you have a relationship that goes beyond just business. Gifts are special touches that adorn any relationship. A better way to establish connections is to make sure that your gift is special and customized. You know that one of the best gifts out there is a promotional USB. These can be customized according to your specifications. They are affordable and come in a variety of fun and exciting designs.

I hope you like the ideas in here. There is always a way to make noise and attract new people to your business. You just have to keep an open mind and experiment.

So who in the world invented the USB? The answer goes by the name of Ajay Bhatt. He was working for the company Intel when the great idea descended upon him. Mr. Bhatt is an Indian-American who has been active in developing several nifty technological products. Aside from the USB, he also helped develop and define the AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port), PCI Express, Platform Power management architecture and a number of chipset improvements.

He graduated from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, India and took up his Masters degree at the City University, New York. In 1990, he was part of the distinguished Intel employees holding the position of Senior Staff Architect. His achievements start piling in thereafter with nominations, awards for excellence and more than ten U.S. patents tucked neatly under his belt. But probably, the largest evidence of his fame transpired when Conan O’Brien did a parody of him on his world-famous Tonight with Conan O’Brien. That’s how you know you are truly famous. In July 2010, another accolade drapes itself on Mr. Bhatt’s already proud shoulders. GQ India awarded him with a much jostled for position in its 50 Most Influential Global Indians.

So there you have it. Now you know whose brainchild it is to have our data transmitted easily from one host to the next. If it weren’t for persevering dedicated architects like Mr. Bhatt, we’d still probably be lugging around ten times the amount we do now. One other amazing thing about Mr. Ajay Bhatt is his outstanding humility. He makes sure that he is credited as co-founder of the USB and regularly mentions his fellow colleagues at Intel to have had a hand in creating the gadget. Now that’s true greatness. Hats off to you, sir!

Here are some things that you probably didn’t know about your USB and its creator, Ajay Bhatt:

It is one heck of a technology. Maybe you haven’t acknowledged just how handy this gadget is. Perhaps you didn’t know how ridiculously complicated it was back then to connect a simple printer to a computer. I remember as a child, it would literally take a good thirty minutes trying to figure out which wire went into where. There was a lot of fumbling about at the back of the computer and near-misses as I tried to plug in the pronged cable which to add to the general confusion, also had screws on them.

It was invented by a man named Ajay Bhatt. Who has since been portrayed by the media as a techie rock star by way of TV ads. Which is a complete irony since he is a man who firmly believes that a group is more important than the individual. In fact, Bhatt is careful to describe himself as the “co-creator” of USB, giving a nod to other Intel workers, particularly Bala Cadambi, who had a hand in its creation.

Ajay Bhatt was parodied on the wildly popular Tonight with Conan O’Brien by the actor Sunil Narkar.

The USB version 3.0 will be up to ten times faster than the older 2.0 version.

Bhatt wanted to eliminate the need to install special software into your computer every time you needed to plug in a peripheral device. There simply was no guarantee back then that your computer would read or acknowledge your plugged in device.

The inspiration behind the USB is a wall socket. A wall socket epitomized the design and simplicity that Bhatt knew would work well with his vision.

The genius behind the USB is the quiet revolution that Bhatt put into action that all computers and gadgets should cooperate and talk in one universal language. And so when you plug an external gadget like your digital camera, your laptop readily recognizes the files and goes about its business downloading or copying the images from your camera.

All USB plugs are compatible with each other. So even if you find yourself purchasing a brand new computer, you may still use the same USB plug from your old model. You save yourself time because you don’t need to upgrade / download / install anything to your new gadget. Nifty isn’t it?

USB’s had some competition in the market. It goes by a connection called Firewire, which is mostly used in higher-end gadgets. The USB however need not be alarmed for its strength lies in its ability to connect and cooperate with almost any given device!

It wasn’t easy to end up with the finished product. To get there, Bhatt had to convince nearly every computer and gadget maker in the world to get on board a single gadget that would connect everything together. Lucky for us, Bhatt had high convincing powers.

So why are USBs just so nifty? I have a bunch of reasons mostly because I’m one of those people who finds joy with technology at my fingertips. Below is my 2 cents, enjoy the read!

Less Paper Waste
It’s good for the environment. Gone are the days wherein you print piles on promotional material and hand them out to prospective clients. Any practical-minded company would know that transferring relevant data from computer to computer is what truly works. Most of the time, all these paper manuals end up as recycled paper. Worse, they head straight to the trash. With innovative design and to the point data, written materials work better transmitted digitally. Think of all the possibilities included there. Sounds, visuals, interactive elements… the list goes on.

Cool Giveaways
Honestly, I’d be hard-pressed to find a better item to give away to our clients. USBs are fun and can carry a lot of data. It’s just the wisest thing to spend a small amount of money on. Umbrellas are cool too but just how many rainy days can you count on as opposed to the times you need to be in front of a computer? The idea doesn’t stop there. Obviously, if you can give this away to your clients, why not give them away as a Christmas gift too? I don’t know about you but I’d definitely prefer a cool looking USB under my Christmas tree than another pair of socks. It is the age of technology and surely even Grandma would appreciate this handy device.

Other Fun things a USB can do
I love the fact that USBs can double as MP3 players. Not only can you carry your entire music collection with you, you can continuously add to it! You won’t be stuck with the same boring old tunes forever if you uploading new songs. Plug it in and play, baby!

Clients often come to us with their ideas for a marketing campaign, however before we can get started we always remind them about market research and how it will guide our design decisions. This is perhaps one of the most important steps that every campaign should begin with. Without the right information from research, coming up with a successful design that communicates to the target audience is almost impossible. Good research is always the corner stone for success.

Among the first things that need to be considered when doing research are:

Who your customers are

What they need

What others have to offer

Discrepancies within the market

How your product is accepted

On the surface the answer to these questions may be easily obtained, but for more detailed information you will need to get your hands dirty with some solid research. Once you clearly understand the intricacies behind why your customers or potential customers act a particular way, then selling to them becomes easier. Generally you will want to conduct two types of research to come up with the data that you need. First you will need quantitative data. Information gathered through this kind of research will provide you with numerical figures such as the number of people in your market, their gender, age etc… With this data you will be able to better define who your customers are.

The second form of research that you need to conduct is qualitative research. This will give you information that is based on opinions, beliefs and other data which cannot be quantified. Such information can be very important for understanding what consumers need and the gaps that exist within the market.

Both of these important forms of research can be achieved through a mix of questionnaires, surveys and interviews. Whenever creating questionnaires it is essential to be strategic. It is also important to make sure that you have questions which can verify the data gathered. This can easily be done by having similar questions in different forms, just to eliminate assumptions. This way you can check whether answers are consistent. It will also be good to have materials that are easy to use and understand.

Although it can be good to do market research on your own it can be a pain. The help of a professional researcher may be useful in order to properly gather data needed. More than this it will also be important to interpret data correctly. Again, a professional may be able to help you properly understand the information that you gather. Make sure that you invest in proper research for your business. Gathering the correct data always pays off. The information that you gather will determine the success of your product or service after all.

The success of any business lies heavily on effective marketing. Many of our clients come to us thinking that they can have a brand identity without a marketing plan. The reality is that much thought and planning goes into this process. For any business to become a success a strategic marketing plan needs to be laid down. The biggest question that clients have is what makes a plan successful? A great marketing plan is not one that is complex, but one that is simple and effective. Here’s some tips that can make it just that.

The Right Knowledge
Before you get started the information at hand needs to be analysed. Take the time out to do some research on the most important facts like your target market. You need to know who exactly you want to sell your product to. The more you know about your target then the easier it will become to come up with a plan. You also need to gain information on your competition. What are you up against? By knowing what you need to overcome you can strategise better.

Consider Your Price
After gaining the right information you need to assess the price at which you are offering your product or service. Should you offer it a lower price than the competition then eventually increase? Should you offer it at the same price? Or should you go higher? You need to consider at which price your product or service will effectively sell in the market. Keep in mind that not all low priced products necessarily succeed. Try to see at which level consumers will welcome what you have to offer.

Think About Distribution
Another important factor to consider is the place where you will be distributing your products or services. Are you ready to go head to head with the competition? Or should you start out in areas where what you offer will be the first of its kind. Figuring out where to distribute your products and services becomes a crucial matter because of acceptance. If consumers are open to purchasing your product or service then it will be a success.

Promote It
Finally, you do not want to forget about promoting. Most of the work lies here and this is essentially at the heart of everything. You need to make sure that you come up with a sound and effective marketing plan. You need to be able to make the public want to select your product or service. There are numerous ways that you can promote your business; you just need to research, experiment and then stick to the methods that work best for you. By using the information that you have and the right strategies for price and distribution, selling comes naturally.
